OpenAI Scholars 2020: Applications Open
We are excited to announce that applications are now open for our third class of OpenAI Scholars. This unique program is designed to support individuals from underrepresented groups in the field of artificial intelligence, providing them with the resources, mentorship, and community they need to succeed in their AI careers.
The OpenAI Scholars program was launched in 2019 with the goal of creating a diverse and inclusive AI community. We believe that diverse perspectives lead to more innovative and effective solutions in AI development. Throughout the past two cohorts, we have seen incredible projects and inspiring growth from our scholars, and we are eager to continue this journey with a new set of talented individuals.
Program Overview
The OpenAI Scholars program is a fully-funded, immersive experience that spans over six months. It includes:
- Mentorship: Each scholar will be paired with an experienced mentor from the OpenAI team. This one-on-one mentorship will provide personalized guidance and insights into the field of AI.
- Workshops and Seminars: Scholars will have access to a series of workshops and seminars that cover essential AI topics, research methodologies, and practical skills needed to excel in the industry.
- Networking Opportunities: Participants will have the chance to connect with fellow scholars and industry professionals, fostering a supportive community and opening doors for future collaborations.
- Project Development: Scholars will work on a self-defined project, applying their AI knowledge in a practical context. This project will culminate in a final presentation, showcasing their work to the wider community.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the OpenAI Scholars program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Identify as a member of an underrepresented group in the field of AI.
- Have a strong interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Possess a foundational understanding of programming and statistics.
- Be able to commit to a six-month program, dedicating significant time to learning and project work.
Application Process
Interested candidates can apply through our dedicated application portal. The application process includes:
- Submitting a personal statement outlining your interest in AI and your goals for the program.
- Providing a resume or CV detailing your educational background and relevant experiences.
- Including references who can speak to your potential as a scholar.
